I may be a day late, but it still made for a good Monday.

2008 Goudey

January 26, 2009

So I found a guy who is willing to take all of my non-SPs from 08 Goudey off my hands. If any of you need any cards from the base set to fill your set/team set/player collections, please let me know ASAP. I’m probably going to box them up and get them to him next week.

2008 Goudey SPs – What I Need

January 18, 2009

I feel like a boob typing this list up because chances are that I traded some of these to you earlier this year… well before I decided to put a set together. I’m also going to do the A&G and Heritage sets which should also lead to more aggravation due to my impetuous trading. Oh well, c’est la vie.

Looking for: 204, 205, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 214, 215, 217, 218, 221, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 235, 238, 239, 240, 241, 243, 245, 246, 249, 250, 251, 255, 256, 257, 259, 260, 261, 264, 267, 268, 271, 272, 273, 275, 276, 279, 282, 283, 286, 287, 290, 291, 297, 298, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, 330

If you have any of these lying around that you don’t need/want, please leave a comment!

2008 Goudey Minis

January 14, 2009

So earlier I announced I was finally working on set-building, and I dove in headfirst with a pair of Goudey blasters.  It was equal parts cool and frustrating pulling as many mini SPs as I did, and I’m curious if anyone is collecting them for any reason.  If you’re interested, look me up – I need a ton of the regular-sized SPs.  Wantlist to come later.

Minis:

245 – Woodrow Wilson

249 – Andrew Johnson

267 – Prince Fielder

282 – Cal Ripken Jr

286 – Andre Dawson

Let’s do this.

Well, hello

January 13, 2009

I stink at updating this thing.  It’s okay, you’re not gonna hurt my feelings by agreeing with me.  Factor in that I have yet to upload a single picture or customize this in any way, and it’s safe to say I need to get my poop in a group.

So…. hmm.  I got some new Pettittes off of Checkoutmycards.com again… nothing too wild there, I guess.  Pulled in a couple of Chad Greenway autos too, so I got that going for me.

God, this is brutal.

Oh, wait!  I’m set-building!  After trading off seemingly all my A&G, Goudey, Heritage and Masterpieces cards, I’m not building all of these sets!  Let’s hear it for foresight, huh?  I’ve started on the Goudey with a couple blasters and will probably dive into a hobby box this weekend.  Maybe this is a good thing, because it will prompt me to post “fell my wantlist” posts.  I also reserved a hobby box of ’09 Heritage, so I’ll be working on that set as well.  One thing: I probably won’t be working on any of the insert sets, so I’ll still be happy to trade those off for Yankee stuff.  Luckily, I have never come into contact with any collectors of the Tigers, Pirates, Blue Jays or Diamondbacks, so those portions of the sets are, well… set.  I’m also kicking around the idea of building the 2005 Topps Total (snagged two hobby boxes for $10) and UD ESPN sets, as well as the 93 Score Select.  Just look at me.

If you’re waiting on a package from me, it’s because I ran out of shipping tape, and haven’t bought anymore yet.  I promise, it’ll be worth your while once they show up.

That’s all.  My boss is talking to me in the doorway as I type this, meaning I should probably make eye contact.

Holy crap

January 6, 2009

Yeah, I do suck at updating this thing.  I started it as a way to distract myself at work, and all of a sudden things start pouring in for me to do.  Lame.  Anyway, this is going to be a mixed bag of random crap, so buckle up people.

Cliff from Capewood Commons and Charlie from Hawk to the Hall – you can both expect to receive some lonnnnnnnnnnng overdue packages in the mail in the next few days.  With the holidays and lots going on at the school I work at, my time has been a little thin lately.  Hopefully the size of the packages makes up for the wait.

I’ve added a handful of new Pettittes to the collection via Checkoutmycards.com – nothing too earth-shattering; a bunch of base, a couple refractors and a duel-bat card with Roger Clemens.  If I wasn’t such a whore to get my hands on all g/u Pettitte stuff, I may question why the need was felt to issue a bat card of two pitchers.  However, I am shameless, and I probably paid too much for the dumb thing to boot.  Oh well, I’ll just say I’m supporting the economy.  Speaking of Pettitte, sounds like he declined the Yankees’ one-year, $10 mil offer.  While I’m happy with the additions the Yankees have made this off-season, I’m going to be very sad if he leaves for a different team.  And I’m not saying that for the sake of saying it; my heart will sink to see him in a different uniform.  I was okay with him in Houston, but I just can’t see him in a Ranger or Braves uniform (sorry Dayf).  The Dodgers is the only team I could make peace with… hopefully it doesn’t have to come to that.

If anyone out there collects the Tigers, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks or Pirates, look me up.  I thought I had a Tigers collector lined up, but I never heard back from him so those are waiting to be claimed again.  Same goes for the Pirates – I have an auto, g/u, and a seat card to be included in trade for one lucky collector.

And because Pettitte, Jeter, Posada and Rivera are getting up there in years, and I won’t be able to collect them forever (well, I probably will with Jeter – God knows Upper Deck will give him the Mickey Mantle treatment long after he’s retired), I am debating adding a new player to my collection.  I already casually collect Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, and even more casually Josh Hamilton.  The leading candidates for me to collect are Lance Berkman, Adam Dunn, Joey Votto, Dionner Navarro, Eric Chavez, and Dan Haren, with Berkman and Dunn in the lead.  There is no reason or logic as to why I like these guys, I just do.  Thoughts?  The problem with this is when I was cleaning out my collection, I got rid of all of these players, except for Dan Haren (his A’s cards did get shipped to a very generous Rickey Henderson fan) – let’s hear it for foresight, huh?  So who knows how this will play out.

Two cards I’m looking for, and hoping someone can help out with: the 91 Upper Deck Baseball Michael Jordan and the 08 Goudey Sport Royalty Michael Jordan.  Actually, I’m trying to find the Tiger Woods Sports Royalty too, but I hear that one goes for a pretty fair amount.

Told you this was all over the place today.

Oh yeah, I got a new Chad Greenway yesterday too – his 06 Bowman Chrome Refractor.  So yeah, that’s pretty sweet.

Ah hell, I gotta get to work.  See you in another week, probably.
