2007 Topps ’52 Rookies want list

May 22, 2009

Because you’re all sick of seeing my Heritage and Goudey lists (which, thanks to the generosity of some of you, have dwindled in number significantly).

UPDATE: I found some packs at Toys R Us this weekend (don’t ask).

UPDATE 2: Dan from Saints of the Cheap Seats hooked me up.  Updated to reflect…

As always, any help is greatly appreciated. I’m in the process of reorganizing some stuff, so if you have sent me a request for anything, please bear with me – I promise I’m sorting it out, and getting packages ready to mail out.

What can I say? I suck at organization.

Happy long weekend, party people.

09 Heritage Want List updated YET AGAIN, along with a handful of Heritage for trade

May 13, 2009

Wow, nice long title.

I bought a Heritage blaster, hoping to at least knock out a couple of insert, SP, and Chrome needs. Aside from a Manny Ramirez NAP, I got nothing, including a pair of SP duplicates. I don’t know how, but I have managed to pull more SP doubles than I have ones I need. Anyway, here’s the oddball-ish stuff I have to trade after this latest blaster:

SP: 461, 469, 481
Chrome: Chipper Jones refractor
Baseball Flashback: BF2
News Flashback: NF10
Then & Now: TN6

If anyone needs these, let me know. Otherwise, they’ll go off to the team traders I chum with. I’d ideally like to trade the SPs for other SPs, but that’s certainly flexible.

Anyway, the updated want list:

81, 241, 270, 286, and then the SPs from the previous post (I’m too lazy to type them all out).

Baseball Flashbacks: 8
News Flashbacks: 5
New Age Performers: 1, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15
Then & Now: 1, 8
Mayo: ARi, AS, CJ, DP, IS, RB, AP, DO, DW, EL, GS, MR, TL
Chrome: All but 4, 29, 31, 51, 69, 70, and 96

For what it’s worth, 08 Goudey is now down to: 208, 214, 215, 227, 228, 229, 235, 240, 243, 245, 250, 260, 264, 283, 301, 302, 303, 304, 306, 312, 313, 314, 315, 317, 318, 320, 324, 327, 327, 328 and 329

If I hadn’t gotten lucky and pulled the Tiger Woods SR SP out of a blaster a few months ago, I would have given up on this set long ago.

A great big THANK YOU to every one of you who sent/is sending Heritage cards. I most certainly appreciate it and hope I can help you out in your collecting needs.

Now, onto a Pettitte related note, I am slowly approaching 700 different Pettittes. I decided that I have no desire to be a “super collector” and am not chasing the paralleled versions of his 06 Co-Signers cards, or anything but the base Moments & Milestones from 08. That being said, if anyone has any M&M #ed/125 lying around, I’d love to work something out with you. Even if I don’t have anything you want in-hand, I am more than willing to go to the card shops and find stuff for you.

Speaking of, I owe an especially big thank you to Madding from Cards on Cards. A couple weeks ago, he sent me a nice little package containing a certain Joba Chamberlain A&G auto he pulled from a blaster a while back. I promise, I haven’t forgotten about it, and am trying to find a worthy Cardinals card to send back your way. If any of you have any St Louis or Portland Trailblazers cards you don’t want, do look him up – great guy, great trader.

I promise (maybe) my next post will NOT be yet another updated list of cards I need, unless I finally get around to posting my want lists for 06 Bazooka and 07 Turkey Red and 52 Rookies.

Again, I appreciate everything all of you in the blogosphere have done for me over this past year of getting back into the hobby. You are all the creme de la creme.

Beating the Pack Searchers, and a few more off the Heritage List

May 7, 2009

I think it’s a general consensus that pack searchers are losers, but also a very visible evil when buying retail. I found myself at Target tonight, and decided to nab a few packs of Heritage to, if nothing else, knock a few Mayo needs off my want list. I grabbed about six packs and headed home.

When I got home, I found that three of the packs had actually been opened halfway. I was instantly pissed, and was thinking about ways to return the packs to Target. After debating it, I decided to hang onto them, and hope I could at least pull an SP out of these opened packs. So, I open the first one – nothing. Same case for the second one. Going through the third one, I figured I had pulled three duds and would at the very least talk to management about this problem. As I flipped the stack of cards over to check the numbers against my list, I came across one that didn’t look right:

ROA-CK

I flipped it over to look a bit closer and discovered that one of the opened packs contained an autographed Clayton Kershaw card. Needless to say, my feelings of disgust and anger were replaced by a smug, undeserving sense of accomplishment.

To paraphrase Ralph Wiggum on the Simpsons, “I beated the pack searchers, I beated the pack searchers!”

And for what it’s worth, I also knocked off: 38, 309, 327, 339, 379, 394, 400, 447, BF6 and Mayo AR.

But obviously, the big news is the autograph, which is officially on the market for any Kershaw/Dodger collectors. If anyone has an Andy Pettitte autograph they would like to put up for this, all you gotta do is holler.
